bamboo.

at church this weekend we talked about bamboo. there is a certain type that you plant and nothing happens for FIVE years. no sprouts, no growing, no evidence that anything ever happened. 

but then after the five years, it grows. like two and a half feet PER DAY. it can grow as tall as an eight story building. 

i imagine all of the people who planted the bamboo without knowing about the five year rule. they probably got frustrated and forgot about the bamboo seeds. 

i just wonder what i forgot about. something i wanted to happen fast that God attached a five, or ten, or twenty year rule to. and all that time something is growing deep, developing healthy roots to grow beyond what i imagined. 

God's so creative.
