so, we really lucked out in adopting ellie. someone had already taught her to sit, lay down, and high five. but we taught her a new trick and we are so proud. as you can see, we're still working on getting it just right, but we still think she's the best. 

 ps- please ignore my high-pitched squeal.

because i believe spring will really come...

this is our balcony. it's humble, but it is quite a luxury for us and little ellie. i love the extra space it adds to our living area. however, we have nothing for it. we will occasionally pull some dining room chairs out to sit on, but otherwise it's pretty bare. then, i saw this project yesterday.

it's just two pallets, some foam, and vinyl to cover. i think it would make the perfect little loungey, cozy corner for our balcony - perfect for the great spring days that are ahead.

since i haven't been blogging, i have been filling my time with pinterest. it is an amazing place where you can form inspiration boards of all sorts. before using pinterest, i was using delicious to store websites and pictures i liked, but i love that you can see all of the images in one place on pinterest. there's some really great stuff over there. visit my page here.

soooo.....

the fern died. you probably could have guessed this since it hasn't made an appearance on the blog since october. 

i thought that since the fern died, maybe it was a sign the blog should go too. hence the nearly two month break. but since all of my devoted followers (read: mom and mother-in-law) missed the blog SO much, i decided i should begin again.

i sometimes don't know the purpose of this blog. i don't feel that the world wide web is all that interested in our lives, but it has been a great way for me to remember some fun, random times in our life. it also has been a great place for things i like. 

so, even though i have not been blogging, a lot has been happening. 

• i'm wrapping up my last semester of school. i'm spending a lot of time helping to deliver babies. i love it.
• ryan and i are still happy and still married. just trying to figure out what we're going to do for the rest of our lives.
• i'm applying for jobs like it's my job. 
• i'm working on a diy project that i am very excited about. more on that later.
• unlike the fern, ellie is alive and well. we think she's the best.
• i've been finding some amazing blogs and spaces online that i LOVE. more on that later too.

i really am hoping to get back into regular posting. no more two month breaks! i'll be back SOON!!!

i can't stop looking at katie evan's blog. her drawings are so adorable and so make me wish i could draw/be artsy at all. i tried to see if i could even handle drawing the sugar cookie. apparently circles are pretty hard for me. anyways, she works for kate spade, so she obviously has some pretty adorable stuff in her portfolio as well.

2011.

(new year's eve, colorado)

colorado was wonderful and beautiful and refreshing. we loved our time with friends and family and ellie did so great on the plane rides. we are slowly getting back into our routine here and i am trying to make the most of my last few days before school starts. i have been in a serious cleaning/purging/simplifying mood lately so i haven't been spending too much time on the computer. however, the blog also needs some cleaning/purging/simplifying, so it's looking a little rough now, but is in the process of being beautified. hope you stick around. i'm so grateful you've stuck around this long. thanks for being interested in us. 

i hope your 2011 has been amazing so far and is filled with good things to come. i can't wait to see where the year takes us.

we're off to colorado in just a few hours and we cannot wait. and we will be sure to report on how traveling across the country on christmas eve with a dog goes...
