guess what. yesterday i saw the first of the cherry blossoms. 

they were hiding near the lincoln memorial. 

ryan's friend roy is visiting us this weekend. we did some sightseeing yesterday that resulted in blisters and sunburns. it was wonderful.

it's the first day of march. i am too excited. people have told me the temperature could reach 70. the cherry blossoms bloom. spring break happens. and i get to see my mom.

lavender.

i'm craving a smell. is that weird? i really wish i had a lavender plant whose smell would permeate our home. for now, i'll look at these pictures and just wish they were scratch and sniff.

flower math.

i went to the dentist today and they gave me flowers. it was nice, but kind of weird. now, i'm trying to study up a little bit before school starts. i'm practicing my medical calculations. math. i like flowers and i like math, so i was soo excited to see this article that combines the two!

the little flower school teachers wrote about the (intense) math behind their gorgeous arrangements. here are some of their diagrams:

i'm feeling too lazy to try and figure it all out, and my 3 carnations from the dentist would be hard to apply this trigonometry to. but something which includes both flowers and math makes my heart smile.
